The Ping brand has received a great amount of recognition in the golf world. Bubba Watson has really made the Ping brand popular. Everyone knows of his bright pink Ping driver that he likes to sport on tour. Ping’s older driver the G25 has won many awards and was a powerhouse in the driver world. Ping released their G30 model and it is definitely giving the G25 a run for their money. I created this Ping G30 driver review to highlight the pros and cons of this amazing driver and to help you in the decision process.

Review Of The Ping G30 Driver

Detailed Review

This Ping driver is doing so many things correctly. I highlighted some of the benefits quickly above but I would like to go into more details below. I personally like to rate the items on a scale of 100 instead of 10. This allows me to be more precise in my ratings.

If you have any questions please feel free to drop a comment in the comments section below.

Driver Design – 4.75 out of 5

Ping has done a fantastic job with the overall design of their G30 driver. The one major benefit of this new design is the addition of the turbulators on the top of the club head. These fin like designs reduce drag and allow the club to travel faster during your swing.

You will notice a greater distance off the tee when you swing this club for the first time. I wish I knew about this club back when I was starting out. I could have saved myself a lot of headaches.

The turbulators will give you a much faster club head speed and everyone knows that a faster speed will make the ball travel so much farther down the fairway. Ping engineers really outdid themselves with this driver design and that is why I gave it such a high score.

Club Technology – 4 out of 5

I know that one major feature in the Ping G30 was the addition of the turbulators. Other than that, there isn’t much more packed into this driver. Sure you can change the loft 1 degree but other than that there really isn’t much.

The turbulators are doing most of the heavy lifting. There is a weight on the bottom of the club head that can be adjusted but other than that, you are pretty much stuck. Reviews online speak very highly of this driver so the lack in technology doesn’t seem to be an issue.

Ping is doing a wonderful job with their club technology and they don’t give you many features to tweak. Probably because they know that what they put into the driver will actually work.

Driver Performance – 4.5 out of 5

When you first swing this club you will instantly notice how much better you game is. The overall performance of this club will definitely shave some strokes off of your handicap. With the combination of turbulators, low center of gravity, and larger club head face you will be hitting straighter drives in no time.

The club head face of this driver has a much larger sweet spot compared to other drivers on the market. The larger sweet spot will have you feeling good each and every time you address the ball. No more worrying about where the ball is going to go when you hit it.

I would have to say that the performance of this driver can definitely challenge some of the sport leaders in the industry. There is a reason that some PGA professionals are using this driver on tour. It performs well in all conditions and really gives you major distance off the tee.

Overall Feel – 4.5 out of 5

I’m just going to say it. I swung this club at the driving range and it feels amazing off the tee. When you make contact with the sweet spot there is no uncomfortable feelings left in your hand. It feels like you could hit the ball 500+ yards. That is how comfortable this driver feels.

You will be checking the driver to make sure your actually hitting the club face. That is how comfortable it is. Everything from the club grip to the shaft makes this driver feel so light in your hands. The light feel of the driver actually made me swing harder. I couldn’t believe that my club head speed increased and with the addition of the turbulators it was like I was a new golfer. You will definitely enjoy the overall feel of the Ping G30 driver.

Alternatives To The Ping G30 Driver

Some golfers may feel intimidated by all the amazing features present in the Ping G30. There are other wonderful drivers on the market that I think can really improve your game. You should consider all your options and make the best choice for your playing ability.

Ping G25 Driver

  • This is another fantastic club by Ping but for a fraction of the price.
  • You won’t get the benefits of the turbulators but before the G30 this driver won so many rewards.
  • Only reason I would point someone towards this club is if the G30 was too expensive.

Taylormade M3 Driver

  • This driver by Taylormade has so many configuration options.
  • The futuristic look of this driver will have you turning heads on the course.
  • If the G30 is not your style then this should be a close second.

Cobra King F8 Driver

  • This driver by Cobra packs a powerful titanium face that sounds amazing.
  • Cobra redesigned their club head from the F7 to allow for less drag.
  • This driver is great for any skill level from beginner all the way up to professional.

Should You Buy The Ping G30 Driver?

I wish that I could have hit the Ping G30 when I was starting out. I would have played a lot better off the tee. Having a solid driver that you can rely on off the tee is a great feeling to have. The turbulators on the top of the club head allow for a faster club head speed and the design of the club face will have you smashing it down the middle each and every time.

I would definitely suggest this club to any golfer with any skill level. You will instantly notice a difference and you will start playing better golf off the tee. No more struggling to get the ball down the fairway. With the Ping G30 you will develop an easy and effortless swing.
