The burner name has been synonymous with the Taylormade brand. Burner was the name of one of their very first drivers. It was a small metal club with not much labeling on it. If you look at the driver now and what was designed years ago you will laugh to yourself.

Taylormade promises that the aeroburner driver is the best yet. I definitely agree with them that it is a good driver but there were definitely some things I don’t agree with as well. I created this driver review to really highlight the things Taylormade is doing well as well as point out things that can be improved. Let me know what you think in the comments below about this Taylormade aeroburner driver review!

Taylormade Aeroburner Driver Review

Detailed Review

Engineers for Taylormade really went back to the drawing board for this driver. The burner name has disappeared and reappeared so many times for this brand. I can finally say with confidence that the engineers got this design right. There isn’t much in the way for customization but the internal parts of this driver are fantastic. If you are someone with a slow to medium swing speed then you should definitely check out this driver for yourself.

The Aeroburner Design – 3.5 out of 5

First let me point out that I really like the white club head that Taylormade put on this driver. I think that it really makes the club pop. Another good thing about the white color is that it makes the club look slimmer and more compact. I personally don’t like to look down at a big clunky driver when i’m about to take a swing. The white paint job with red lettering was an awesome choice by the engineers over at Taylormade.

Another huge design feature on this driver is the redesigned speed pocket on the bottom of the club. This new speed pocket gives you a much larger sweet spot on the club head. A larger club head will give you increased performance off the tee. When you look at the driver on an angle you will see the very noticeable pocket but it didn’t seem to mess with my swing.

Technology In The Driver – 3.0 out of 5

The engineers have packed a lot of technology into the club head. There isn’t much as far as customization goes but I think they make up for that in the overall design of the club. The Aeroburner driver has a brand new club head design that was crafted in a way to reduce drag while swinging. Less drag means more swing speed. I think we all know what happens to the ball when the swing is faster. It goes further down the fairway!

One downfall of the redesigned club head is that some people complained that it made their swing too fast. Golfers were unable to control the club which caused the ball to go all over the place. I definitely think that if you have a slower swing this won’t be an issue.

Performance – 3.5 out of 5

This driver was definitely designed to increase swing speed. Most golfers will definitely see a difference in their swing. Some reviews online like to call it the perfect “grip it and rip it” club on the market. People with a faster swing will notice that this driver causes the ball to spin a lot. A fast spinning ball off the tee isn’t necessarily good.

There isn’t much in the way for adjustability, but this could be good for someone just starting out or for a golfer looking to shave some strokes off of their handicap. I personally like to have a driver where I can tweak the weights or adjust the loft accordingly. Most people didn’t even notice that there were no weights to adjust because the driver performed well off the rack.

Feel Of The Driver – 3 out of 5

As I mentioned earlier on, this driver has a very light feel to it. With the addition of the matrix speed RUL-Z 50 graphite shaft and redesigned club head it will feel like there is a feather in your hand. Don’t let this light feeling scare you away though.

Another thing I want to point out is that this driver sounds amazing when it hits the golf ball. You will definitely feel powerful with this club in your hands. The sound of this club mixed in with the light feeling is definitely a game changer. Your playing partners are definitely going to be asking you questions about the aeroburner.

Alternatives To The Taylormade Aeroburner Driver

If the light weight driver has you feeling a little questionable, there are many other wonderful drivers on the market. Don’t limit yourself to strictly one club.

Callaway X2 Hot Driver

  • Redesigned club face gives you a 10% larger sweet-spot for better control.
  • The X2 has two different models, pro and standard.
  • The pro version has a slightly smaller head and gives you a lower launch off the tee.
  • The standard X2 has a higher launch and is much more forgiving.

Cobra Fly Z Driver

  • Average distance off the tee. It won’t blow other clubs out of the water but it can definitely compete with the best of them.
  • The tennis ball sized sweet spot will have you getting rid of your miss-hits in no time. The club also has an amazing sound off the tee.
  • Driver will give your ball a considerable amount of rise. You won’t be hitting stingers anymore for your first shot. The loft and design of this driver will have your ball reaching amazing heights.
  • This driver is recognized as a game improvement club. Golfers have shaved a good amount of shots off of their handicap with this driver in their bag.

Taylormade M4 Driver

  • Great driver for amateur golfers due to Taylormade’s new twist face technology. This new engineering has paved the way for less professional players to really benefit.
  • The 460cc club head may seem intimidating at first but after a couple swings you will get used to the larger head.
  • Not many adjustment opportunities with this club but overall it does its job. Some golfers may prefer more customization options for their driver.
  • The overall feel and sound of this driver is next level. You will be turning heads on the course when this club hits the ball.

Should You Buy The Taylormade Aeroburner Driver?

This driver is fantastic for anyone with a slow to medium swing speed looking to cut off some strokes from your average score. The team over at Taylormade has made a very clean looking driver with a lot packed into the club head. Even though there aren’t a lot of customization options with this driver, you won’t even notice because the ball will be smashed down the fairway each and every time.

In my opinion, if you want a driver that doesn’t have all the fancy bells and whistles then the aeroburner is your best choice. Also if you have a swing speed over 105 mph this driver may be harder to control.

Overall, the engineers really gave it their all with this driver. You will definitely get the golf ball airborne with this club which will give you a considerable amount of distance off the tee. I’d love to hear your opinions in the comments below!
